Custom Aerospace Machine has taken delivery of NEW MAZAK VCN-530C 5 AXIS Vertical Machining Center which is now fully operational and producing parts for the Harris Program “Skyhawk”.
This acquisition was to enhance overall production levels of CAM and to provide support to HARRIS CORP. The U.S. Navy has awarded Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) an eight-year contract valued at up to $133 million to provide shipboard terminals that give crews access to high-bandwidth voice and data communications. This High Speed machining center is capable of machining parts as large as 24″x20″x12″. With its 12,000rpm Spindle and high resolution 0.00005″ motion encoders on all axis including the “A” and “B” this machining center can produce highly accurate machined parts. This acquisition brings Custom Aerospace’s total 5 axis Machining Center inventory to four units out of eleven CNC Machining centers and CNC Lathes currently being operated.
